The Lede is signing off for the evening, but will continue following the killing of Osama bin Laden on Wednesday. In the meantime, please visit the home page of NYTimes.com to read and watch a range of reports from my colleagues on several important strands of the story.

Readers might also be interested in watching this PBS interview with C.I.A. director Leon Panetta, who explained that, contrary to some early reports, President Obama and other officials pictured in the Situation Room on Sunday night were not able to see shots fired at Osama bin Laden during the raid.

In that interview, Mr. Panetta mentions that the code word for Osama bin Laden during the raid was "Geronimo." The idea of equating a Native American leader with a terrorist will strike many as unfortunate, particularly considering the flack Mr. Obama took from some quarters for including Sitting Bull in a children's book about American heroes. Samira Ahmed of Channel 4 News wrote an interesting blog post on the choice of that name.
